Macallan Distil Your World Mexico. It may be hard to imagine today, but for much of the 20th century, Macallan was primarily a constituent malt in blends. It was not until the 1980s downturn in the market that the distillery decided to focus on its single malt brand. Fortuitously, this coincided with the crest of a wave of enthusiasm for the high-quality releases that the distillery had licensed to Campbell, Hope & King, and Gordon & MacPhail in the 1960s and 1970s. These remain some of the most collectible on the market. While global single malt sales volume is still led by Speyside neighbours, Glenfiddich and Glenlivet, Macallan is easily the most sought-after. So much so that they had to open a brand here new distillery in 2018, an underground architectural masterpiece within the Easter Elchies estate, boasting 36 copper pot stills.
Macallan Whisky Maker here Steven Bremner has produced this limited-edition release alongside the Roca brothers of the world-famous restaurant El Celler de Can Roca of Girona, Spain. The restaurant opened in 1986 and since then has twice been named the best restaurant in the world by Restaurant magazine. Although the Roca brothers have never felt the need to open more restaurants in different locations, they do click here occasionally take their cuisine on Macallan Distil Your World Mexico tour via temporary “pop-ups”. This release is dedicated to Mexico.
The whisky has been aged in sherry-seasoned European & American Macallan Distil Your World Mexico oak casks and bottled at cask strength. The bottle is presented in a display case which features a 3D triangular design and a hidden compartment containing a book that details the release.
